Iron oxides in the tint do something a clear sunscreen cannot: they block visible light, which is a genuine contributor to melasma and to the stubborn pigmentation that ordinary SPF does not fully prevent. If you are treating dark marks with vitamin C or azelaic acid, this protects that work.
